Code signing policy
Free code signing provided by SignPath.io, certificate by SignPath Foundation.
What is signed
The Windows installers for Octet Draw: the setup programs (.exe) and the .msi. GitHub Actions builds them from the public source code at github.com/SamChemMan/Octet-Draw. Nothing is built or signed on a personal computer. Each release is signed only after a person approves it.
Team
- Committers and reviewers: Sam Ellis (SamChemMan)
- Approvers: Sam Ellis (SamChemMan)
A change proposed by anyone else, for example a pull request, is reviewed by a committer before it is merged.
Privacy
This program will not transfer any information to other networked systems unless specifically requested by the user or the person installing or operating it, with one exception: the update check.
- Update check. When it opens, Octet Draw asks GitHub whether a newer version exists. It sends no drawings, files or personal details. GitHub sees the request, as it sees any visit (GitHub’s privacy statement). Turn it off in Settings › General › Updates.
- Search Reaxys and Search PubChem. Only when you press one, Octet Draw opens your browser at that site with the structure you chose. Turn them off in Settings › Import and export › Online search.
Octet Draw has no account, no licence check, no analytics and no crash reporting. Your drawings stay on your computer.
Uninstall
- Mac: drag Octet Draw from Applications to the Bin.
- Windows: Settings › Apps › Installed apps › Octet Draw › Uninstall.
- Linux: remove the Octet Draw package with your package manager, or delete the AppImage file.
Your drawings are your own files, so uninstalling leaves them where you saved them.
